I've got some helpful info on Brian May's Star Fleet Project, in case that's your cup of tea.
Written by Paul Bliss and covered by Brian May, it was originally released on vinyl in the summer of 1983, and did indeed feature Eddie Van Halen alongside Brian on guitar, with Roger Taylor providing wonderfully high-pitch backing vocals, (remember Bohemian Rhapsody, anyone?

). It featured three tracks, all of which were near-spontanious jams; Star Fleet, Let Me Out, and Blues Breaker. Its also rare as rockinghorse $#!t, as far as I can tell...
However, it was released on CD in 1992, and
this version is much easier to find.
Brian released a two-part CD-Single for a song called Back To The Light. Disc Two was released, quite naturally, a week after Disc One.
Disc One (Parlophone serial number 7243 8 80381 2 6 CDRX 6329) features the songs Back To The Light, Star Fleet, and Let Me Out. Disc Two (7243 8 80380 2 7 CDR 6329) features Back To The Light, Nothin' But Blue (an instrumental bonus-track), and Blues Breaker... so you get the whole thing, plus more, over two discs.
This is much easier to find. I found one disc on a market stall and the other on ebay. Piece of cake! Worth every penny.
As for the show, I have an unofficial copy on DVD, (only because there WAS no official copy, 'til now). The bootleg is a good effort... but the REAL version will be worth the price just to prevent eye-strain.
