Surely the writers would have known of Special Weapons Force? Don't forget that all the vehicle designs used in that original promo strip are all based upon the prototypes seen in the 1983 catalogue. Check out the Cosmic Cruiser and Swordfish, not to mention the Space Force base!

i love this idea! either way i think a fan fic (or even better a comic) about the destruction os swf would be good, whether it explains the barons origins or not.........

I think it's a coincidence and simply refers to the Laser Exterminator, since the capability to hit a close orbit space station is quite special.

However, as a retcon idea for additional early storylines it fits in very neatly (as Ross said), for me far better than when Cobra somehow stole the Hawk designs and destroyed the rest.

And either way as the mentalist behind has a certain je ne sais quoi au so very Palitoy-special to it.

And as the base features, the writer/artist definitely had excellent early Palitoy access.
