Did Ironblood destroy Special Weapons Force?

Postby The Baron » 02 Dec 2009 12:17

This is too much to be a coincidence... in the very first Action Force comic strip, in his very first appearance, in his very first word balloon, Baron Ironblood says:

Surely the writers would have known of Special Weapons Force? Don't forget that all the vehicle designs used in that original promo strip are all based upon the prototypes seen in the 1983 catalogue. Check out the Cosmic Cruiser and Swordfish, not to mention the Space Force base!

So has this been staring us in the face from the very beginning? Could it be that The Baron stole his technology from Special Weapons Force? Did Boffin create the Laser Exterminator? Is this why we never heard of SWF?

Well I'll be damned! Well spotted that man! I'd not even noticed it was the prototype Cruiser and Swordfish shown, but as you say, they must have had sight of all of the proposed toy ranges as they were drawing these?

Is Boffin really Ironblood? Black Major was AF as well.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

It could be coincidence but you never know. I am using the SWF in my fan-fic as more of a tech support and armoury division of AF.
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

i love this idea! either way i think a fan fic (or even better a comic) about the destruction os swf would be good, whether it explains the barons origins or not.........

If Ironblood did nick the Laser Exterminators etc off :fforce: then he painted them red in record time! Andy1672 would be proud.

I think it's a coincidence and simply refers to the Laser Exterminator, since the capability to hit a close orbit space station is quite special.

However, as a retcon idea for additional early storylines it fits in very neatly (as Ross said), for me far better than when Cobra somehow stole the Hawk designs and destroyed the rest.

Great catch Eisenblut-San.

But if :boffin: is :baron2: sort of fits with Vagan from the mini-comics too? Can't find them on the new site for a quick re-read.

And either way :boffin: as the mentalist behind :kraken: :skeletron: :muton: :wolf: has a certain je ne sais quoi au so very Palitoy-special to it.

And as the :space: base features, the writer/artist definitely had excellent early Palitoy access.

Ah, Karl Vagan from Codename Sky Raider?

http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/comics/ ... index.html

Don't know, I always assumed Boffin was an old dude. Maybe Vagan was his protege turned to the dark side?

Special Weapons Force ties in very neatly with the Space Force flashback strip...

The plot thickens.
